Polegate School
Wernick Buildings recently delivered a new school building for Polegate School in East Sussex. As part of a programme of development the school are undergoing, they required a new main block which would not only provide a reception area and classrooms, but a school hall which could be used for PE lessons and as a canteen.
Dickens Heath
Solihull Council obtained a developer contribution fund to deliver a provision for young people aged 13 to 17 in Dickens Heath.
Myton School LINC
Myton School were in desperate need of a new Learning, Inclusion and Nurture Centre (LINC). The school had a vision for inclusive learning to better serve the challenging and varied needs of their pupils, but this vision simply couldn’t be delivered in the facilities they had available.
Glangwili Hospital
Accommodation had to solve an immediate need while enabling permanent occupancy. Fixtures and fittings had to reflect this requirement, ensuring that staff could continue to operate without disruption.
Oakfield Primary School
Oakfield Primary school was in urgent need of new classroom space. Current facilities were not able to handle the pupil intake and classes were risking becoming overcrowded.
Harwell Visitor Centre
When a wider redevelopment was being planned at the Harwell Campus, the lab realised they had an opportunity to provide a purpose made visitor centre to replace the converted space they were occupying in an office block.
Cardiff University Biobank
The dedicated facility would bring the biobank team together, and allow them to ensure samples were collected, catalogued and stored safely. The building would have to accommodate specialist equipment, including ultra-low temperature freezers and vapour phase liquid nitrogen sample storage.

For many of us, taking a shower after a long day of work is one of life’s little pleasures. For workers at the Kings Norton Recycling Centre on Lifford Lane, it’s nothing short of a necessity.
SPECIFIC Active Office
The IKC based at Swansea, SPECIFIC, has a deceptively simple vision for the future of energy. Their ‘Buildings as Power Stations’ concept aims to demonstrate how technology can be integrated into buildings that allow it to generate, store and release enough solar energy to be self-sustaining.
