Dickens Heath

Dickens Heath

Requirement

Solihull Council obtained a developer contribution fund to deliver a provision for young people aged 13 to 17 in Dickens Heath.

Following a consultation, it was clear that the space should meet a multitude of needs and serve as a flexible hub for the community to make the most of the funding.

As very little land is available in the area, the council worked with the local school to locate the new building.

Solution

The client explored the traditional building route, but quotes exceeded their budget. But more importantly, the client felt that this building method would have resulted in ongoing disturbance to the school and surrounding area.

Solihull Council found Wernick Buildings through the Fusion 21 Framework. They appreciated the customer-focused approach from Wernick who provided information in an easily-digestible format.

During the project the client finely tuned and altered their requirements which the client says Wernick responded to in a “very flexible and helpful way”, adding that Wernick continually worked with them to find the “best possible solution”.

The client is positive that modular buildings are a good fit for future projects: “I can see this building being the catalyst to making our organisation think more about modular buildings to meet our other accommodation needs.”

Wernick are incredibly professional with a strong partnership ethos. The lead managers were excellent to work with; very knowledgeable, managed the project incredibly well and they both really understood what we were trying to achieve. And I was very impressed with the constant positive attitude towards us as clients. You can tell that Wernick really know and believe in what they do, and our customer experience was very impressive.
