Our social values
We are committed to creating social value and making a positive impact on the lives of our workforce and the communities where we operate. We aim to deliver and create employment opportunities in specialised roles and trades, support the next generation of talent within the portable and modular sector, provide work experience, increase the offer of apprenticeships and trainees, deliver legacy projects in communities and provide an educational outreach (through STEM opportunities or academic collaboration).
Embedding social value
Over the previous decade, we have expanded vigorously through a combination of acquisitions and organic growth. As with every business, the COVID-19 pandemic has also provided many challenges.
It’s now paramount to us that we work collectively not only with business colleagues but also with suppliers, local people, and customers. Thus, ensuring the impact of our activities on the environment is both positive and long-lasting.
Our partnerships and relationships are key in delivering and embedding social value outcomes to our customers, stakeholders and communities.
Social value report
We have produced a report showing our commitment to social value for 2023. The report provides a summary of the activities we are already undertaking to deliver both value and meaningful change in our local communities.
In this report, we discuss our five priority areas:
- Employment and skills
- Community
- Being a responsible employer
- Supply chain
- Carbon reduction
- Modular and portable building innovation
Communities and charities
One of our priorities is to engage with communities and identify opportunities where we can work together and provide support. Through professional networking, direct outreach, and social media, we target areas local to our 40 operating centres.
We are always looking to promote community engagement amongst our workforce and our customers and suppliers. Whether this is through education, volunteering and charitable contributions. Every year, we partner with charity organisations providing monetary support and resources, helping them deliver projects and services within the communities where we are working.
Not only do we support charities ourselves, but we encourage and support our employees in raising money for charities with our Wernick fund-matching scheme. This scheme matches the money raised of up to £500 or £1,000 if they are part of a group.
