Oakfield Primary School
Requirement
Oakfield Primary school was in urgent need of new classroom space. Current facilities were not able to handle the pupil intake and classes were risking becoming overcrowded.
On the day Cardiff Council approached Wernick for a solution, Wernick were able to provide drawings of a similar project. This enabled the Council to have detailed discussion with the school, with both parties happy with what was being proposed. To expedite the project further, the building was procured through the Fusion21 modular framework.

Solution
While the initial discussions were based around an existing building, Wernick designed a bespoke solution for Oakfield. Aside from the building itself, Wernick also managed landscaping on the site.
Wernick took ownership of the site on the 7th of January, and the building was handed over in early May. Careful management ensured the safety and security of pupils to allow the project to proceed in a live school environment.
The resulting building provides a much needed new classroom facility for the school, while at the same time blending with the existing buildings on site thanks to the brick finish and pitched tiled roof.
Feedback on the project has been excellent! The classrooms are a great size for allowing working space as well as continuous provision. Staff and pupils are very happy in their new learning environment.
