BWSC Sleaford Renewable Energy Project
Requirement
The Sleaford Renewable Energy Plant, operated by BWSC Generation Services UK, required extensive temporary accommodation to support its annual scheduled maintenance shutdown. During this period, additional personnel were brought on-site to assist with various operational tasks, necessitating a range of welfare facilities and secure workspaces to maintain an efficient and safe working environment.
BWSC needed a solution that included canteen spaces, secure office environments, toilet facilities, and shower units to accommodate their workforce comfortably and efficiently throughout the shutdown. The tight layout of the Sleaford site posed additional logistical challenges, as it required careful positioning of each unit to maintain accessibility to tanks, bowsers, and essential service points. Given the scheduled nature of the maintenance, precise timing for delivery and setup was crucial to ensuring the shutdown’s success.

Solution
Wernick Hire provided a complete package of anti-vandal and GreenSpace ECO Cabins tailored to meet BWSC’s welfare and operational requirements. The selection included office spaces, canteens, shower units, and secure storage, all designed to integrate seamlessly into the Sleaford site layout. The use of GreenSpace ECO units also supported BWSC’s environmental objectives, as they offer enhanced insulation and energy efficiency compared to standard options, making them an ideal choice for the renewable energy sector.
To address the site’s spatial limitations and ensure optimal placement of each unit, Wernick conducted a preliminary site visit. This allowed the team to assess the layout, measure specific areas, and identify service points that needed to remain accessible. This early planning proved essential for organising the delivery of 23 stacked units, multiple toilet blocks, and various ancillary facilities without compromising access to maintenance services.
On the delivery day, BWSC requested additional units to support increased on-site activities, which Wernick swiftly managed to source and position, adapting to the evolving needs of the site. With ALT Haulage’s efficient transport coordination, these additional units were seamlessly integrated into the layout, ensuring minimal disruption. Throughout the eight-week project, Wernick remained on hand to provide responsive support and regular check-ins, ensuring that BWSC’s maintenance operations proceeded smoothly and that all facilities consistently met the team’s daily needs.
Wernick Hire has supported us reliably over the years, providing high-quality temporary accommodation that suits our requirements perfectly. Their team’s quick response to our planning needs and flexibility in handling last-minute changes have been invaluable during our scheduled shutdowns. We’d gladly recommend them to others.
