Wernick Hire Win Considerate Constructors Environment Award
We are pleased to announce that the 2019 Considerate Constructors award for Environmental Best Practice was awarded to Wernick Hire.
The coveted prize was accepted at the National Ultra Site Awards ceremony. The event recognises exemplary Considerate Constructors Ultra Sites and, for the first time this year, top performing suppliers.
Wernick Hire entered the category as a supplier of welfare accommodation products which help to drive down a construction site’s carbon footprint.
Here’s what Considerate Constructors wrote about us
‘This company has impressed by actively seeking to bring down carbon emissions and improve the environmental performance of its part of the supply chain.
It carried out research through site visits, roadshows and interviews, with an iron determination to bring the most environmentally friendly welfare unit possible to the construction market.
Their pioneering Fusion Pulse® welfare unit can potentially reduce carbon emissions by up to 80 per cent and is equipped with a battery charged by excess energy from the generator and a solar panel on the roof.
Lighting, heating and power sockets run from battery power alone and the system improves the efficiency of the generator by ensuring all energy created is used.
The company has also created ‘pop up’ wind turbines, solar panels and freestanding battery technology that can store energy.
For its contribution to improving the environment, its leadership, its inventiveness and flexibility, this company truly merits an Ultra Site award.’
Award winning site accommodation
Delegates from Wernick Hire namely Jonathan Wernick (Deputy Managing Director), Nikki Amers-Delph (Head of Major Accounts) and Colin Ellis (Regional Manager of the South East) (pictured left to right), joined hundreds of guests at the historic Plaisterers’ Hall, London for the ceremony which was presented by Ann Bentley, Construction Leadership Council lead on Supply Chain and Business Models.
This year, ten ‘Ultra Sites’ were recognised along with six suppliers who were honoured with a special individual recognition award.
Ultra Sites achieve a greater integration of a contractor’s supply chain to meet and exceed the Scheme’s Code of Considerate Practice.
Edward Hardy, Chief Executive, Considerate Constructors Scheme commented:
“Ultra Sites represent a real turning point for the construction industry, by providing a way for the industry to work more collaboratively and realise the benefits of this greater integration for their workforce, community and environment.
The winners and finalists of these awards range from small scale local projects through to large scale regional multi billion pound projects. This clearly shows how the Ultra Site model can be embraced by any type of construction activity, no matter the size, scale or budget.
Thank you to everyone involved in making Ultra Sites such a success. We look forward to its continuing growth and development as the model to achieve greater standards in considerate construction throughout the supply chain.”
