Wernick Hire promotes from within with new senior management appointments
Wernick Hire is pleased to announce the appointments of Nathan Hunt and Joe Duxbury to its Management Team, where they join fellow Regional Manager Jack Turner. All three have progressed into leadership roles through the company’s Graduate and Management Trainee Schemes.
These appointments reflect one of Wernick’s core values – People. Wernick Hire is committed to investing in the growth and development of its employees, providing opportunities for long-term career progression and promoting from within where possible.
Michael Thistlethwaite, Chief Executive Officer – Rental Division stated, “We want to give our employees the skills, experience and opportunities to progress their careers, and it’s amazing to see people grow into leadership roles from within the business. Watching colleagues develop, take on new challenges and build long-term careers at Wernick is something we’re incredibly proud of and it reflects our commitment to investing in our people.”
Nathan Hunt
Nathan is the Regional Manager at Wernick Hire and the first individual to be appointed following completion of the company’s two-year Graduate Trainee Scheme. The programme gave him exposure to a wide range of roles across the Group, providing a strong foundation in both operational and commercial areas.
Nathan began at the Banbury depot as Assistant Manager, progressing to General Manager of Wickford Hire and has now stepped into the role of Regional Manager, South East.
Nathan commented, “I have been well looked after by Wernick ever since I started. One of the pros of working in a family run business is the shorter chains of command, which meant that even as a trainee I was being mentored by company directors.”
Joe Duxbury
Joe also progressed through the Graduate scheme before moving into his current position as General Manager – Industrial.
He began his career at the Eggborough depot as a Hire Controller, spending 10 months in the role. Joe later moved to Banbury as Acting Depot Manager, before supporting operations at the Leeds depot, where he continued to develop his leadership experience.
Joe commented, “Nowhere else out there offers the same opportunities and training that Wernick do; like being put in such close and regular contact with a Deputy Managing Director. I think the two-year programme is a great way to learn about the company and the industry before being put into a senior position.”
Jack Turner
Jack was promoted to the Management Team in January 2025.
Jack joined the company in January 2020 as a Hire Controller at the Leeds depot, where he worked for the first six months before enrolling onto the company’s internal management programme.
Through the programme, Jack completed six weeks with Wernick Events before moving to Wernick Hire Aldridge as a Management Trainee. Following completion of his 12-month programme, he was offered the role of Depot Manager at the Cheltenham depot, which he started in November 2021.
In 2023, Jack returned to Aldridge Hire for the role of Depot Manager and remained in that position until January 2025, when he was promoted to Regional Manager, North West & Midlands.
Jack commented, “If you’re joining us as a trainee or are new to the business, I would just say, go into it with open eyes and don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone.”
