Requirement

After a review of buildings within Dinas Powys Primary School, it was identified a new classroom block was required to replace existing classrooms at the school. Wernick was awarded the contract by the Vale of Glamorgan Council with the project involving demolition and removal of the existing building along with the design, supply, and installation of a new 3 classroom block including an office, kitchen and suitable toilets.

Solution

Using an approved Welsh SME ground working contractor, we began by demolishing and removing the existing building. Following this, we prepared the foundations for the new structure. During this time, the modules for the new building were being constructed in a controlled environment at our manufacturing facility. These modules were designed and built to meet the school’s exact requirements, ensuring a high level of precision and quality.

The new building was constructed in full compliance with all relevant building regulations. Additionally, we installed a 4 kWp photovoltaic (PV) system on the roof. This solar power system helps to reduce the school’s carbon footprint by generating renewable energy on-site.

To enhance the outdoor experience for students, a free-standing mono-pitch canopy was installed. This structure provides cover for the students of Dinas Powys Primary School during inclement weather, ensuring they have a sheltered area to gather. The surrounding area was finished with aesthetically pleasing landscaping, creating an inviting and attractive environment for both students and staff.
