2018 has been a record year for investment for the Wernick Group. A substantial chunk of the investment has gone into rejuvenating the hire fleet.

Older stock has been moved on (over 2500 assets have been sold), and 2300 new units have been purchased. Over £18 million has been invested across 30 asset types: many of which are kitted out with the latest eco technology.

Darren Brown, Deputy Managing Director at Wernick Hire states this is part of an ongoing project: “We have invested heavily this year in fleet assets, enabling depots to have an increased number of ready-to-rent assets available. This gives us competitive advantage; our customers have access to higher specification products with shorter lead times.”

Most Wernick Hire depots have now taken receipt of new units and can proudly boast a higher proportion of stock with eco credentials. Green products with a higher EPC rating are growing in popularity, with clients realising the wide ranging benefits of eco site welfare facilities.

The Latest Eco Technology

The latest units offer reduced fuel usage, reduction in generator servicing, longer generator life, fewer breakdowns and reduced noise pollution. The overall carbon footprint of a site is reduced from the first day the unit reaches the site.

Bridget Bonsall, Depot Manager at Wernick Hire Cornwall has taken receipt of eight new Fusion Pulse eco units this year: “The eco proportion of our fleet is increasing to satisfy client requirements. Reducing noise and emissions is a requirement on certain sites and can help clients to achieve best practice under the Considerate Constructors’ code.”
