Our social value stories
Take a look at our social value stories. We have developed a map which showcases our social value stories throughout the UK.
At Wernick Group, we believe in making a meaningful difference beyond our business. Alongside encouraging our employees to support causes close to their hearts through our charity fund match scheme, Wernick itself is committed to giving back. We provide direct support to charities and organisations that work to improve lives, particularly those helping disadvantaged groups.
Our commitment extends beyond financial donations—we actively promote community engagement among our workforce, customers and suppliers, fostering partnerships that create lasting social impact.
For the past decade, Wernick Group has been a proud supporter of Treloar’s, a charity dedicated to providing education, therapy and care to physically disabled young people. Treloar’s empowers its students to live more independent and fulfilling lives by offering a supportive environment tailored to their needs.
As one of the UK’s largest specialist centres for young disabled people, Treloar’s provides education for students aged 5 to 25, with 170 students currently enrolled. The charity’s work extends beyond education, offering essential therapies and equipment to help students reach their full potential.
Over the years, Wernick has contributed funding for vital equipment and campus improvements, making a tangible difference in students’ daily lives. This support has enabled Treloar’s to acquire essential items such as iPads for communication and learning, an outdoor accessible floor piano and therapeutic aids, including hoists, ‘chilli bean’ seats, a mechanical cough assist machine and a shower trolley to assist with physiotherapy sessions.
Wernick contributed to the cost and construction of two modular buildings for the United Synagogue’s ‘Chesed Hub’ in Bushey, Hertfordshire.
Chesed, meaning ‘loving-kindness’ or ‘welfare,’ is at the heart of the Chesed department’s mission to support both the United Synagogue’s members and the wider community. This Chesed Hub serves as a vital resource, housing a kosher food bank and a dedicated office and welfare space for its staff and community volunteers.
Thanks to Wernick’s support, the Chesed Hub provides over 170 families with weekly parcels of essential food and household basics, while also preparing freshly cooked meals for more than 200 people each month. Those benefiting from these services include individuals facing financial hardship, asylum seekers and those who are seriously ill, elderly or housebound.
Wernick has supported WheelPower, the national charity for Wheelchair Sport for many years. Providing funding to purchase specialist sports equipment and upgraded equipment for their onsite accommodation facilities, most recently providing a donation for new shower chairs and hoist equipment. This equipment has made a huge difference, enabling wheelchair users to remain independent when using on-site facilities and empowering more physically disabled people to attend sport events which include the Inter Spinal Unit Games for recently spinal cord injured people and National Junior Games for physically disabled children.
Sport and physical activity provide tremendous benefits for people with disabilities; improve health and physical well-being, increase self-esteem and confidence and improve social opportunities, which result in a better quality of life and independence. While sport can develop confidence and improve your health, it’s also a great way to put a smile on the faces of those taking part.
Last year, WheelPower’s facilities at Stoke Mandeville Stadium were used for sport by disabled people on 22,610 occasions.
Wernick Group has been supporting Jewish Blind & Disabled, an independent charity that provides culturally sensitive housing and support to Jewish adults living with physical disabilities or sight loss.
With increasing demand for its services, the charity is moving forward with development plans to expand and support more people in need. These plans would not be possible without support from individuals and companies such as Wernick. Over the past three years, Wernick has supported the charity’s latest development, Ephraim Court – 30 new accessible apartments designed to enable people with disabilities to live with dignity and independence. In 2025, the charity will welcome their first tenants into the new building.
Wernick’s support has not ended with Ephraim Court but continues with the charity’s next project. With planning permission secured for the redevelopment of Fairacres, its oldest building, the charity plans to upgrade the existing 29 one-bedroom apartments and add 11 new units.
“The support of Wernick Group is invaluable to us. Their funding has helped us provide vital equipment, improve our facilities, and enhance student experiences. They have also supported the development of Hope Court, our key worker accommodation, and fund our annual Staff Awards, which are a fantastic way to start the academic year. We’re extremely grateful for everything the Wernick Group helps us with and for their on-going support.”
Martin Ingram, CEO and Principal at Treloar’s School and College.
“Sport has the power to transform lives, and thanks to the Wernick Group’s generous support over many years, more disabled people can enjoy the independence, confidence and the joy of being active. The Wernick Group’s contributions of specialist equipment and funding for our Sport Events & Development Officer, who manages our programme events has been instrumental in creating more opportunities for disabled people to lead active lives.”
McElhatton OBE, CEO at WheelPower.
Supporting charities is an integral part of Wernick Group’s values, and we take pride in contributing to organisations that make a real difference in people’s lives. Whether it’s through financial donations, fundraising efforts or employee-driven initiatives, we remain dedicated to giving back to the communities we serve.
We are always looking for new ways to expand our impact and welcome opportunities to collaborate with charities, customers and suppliers who share our commitment to social responsibility.
