Wernick Hire was tasked with quickly producing a two storey sustainable building for leading UK construction and infrastructure company, Morgan Sindall, which has the responsibility for a project to regenerate an area of Longbridge town centre in Birmingham. The purpose of this £70 million project is to create a thriving commercial, leisure and retail destination – an endeavor which is estimated to produce approximately 1000 jobs as an outcome.
This mission was met with enthusiasm and professionalism from Wernick Hire – a claim reflected in the testimony of area manager for Morgan Sindall, Julian Price. Julian was very complimentary when asked his thoughts regarding the process, he commented: “We wanted a building which would not only provide high quality site accommodation, but also minimise our environmental impact during the construction phase of this regeneration project. The building was delivered and installed in a period of two days and handed over and ready for occupation within just one week. The accommodation will provide the main construction site offices and staff welfare provision. A canteen, shower, toilet and changing facilities makes up the ground floor whilst the first floor of the building consists of high quality offices including meeting rooms, open plan office space, kitchen and toilets.
The GreenSpace range of buildings from Wernick are high specification and include a number of energy and water saving features such as increased levels of insulation, double-glazed windows to improve U-Values, passive infra-red (PIR) sensors to operate lighting and a thermostat/timer controlled heating system.
The building was rounded off and complemented by a colour scheme representative of the Morgan Sindall Corporation itself. Site Manager, Gary Simister said of the final result: “We are pleased with the service Wernick Hire has delivered.
