Harsco Metals and Minerals

Requirement
When the Harsco Metals and Minerals plant in Rotherham had a requirement for a replacement office building to house the operations staff, Wernick Hire had the task of providing a fast track solution.
As the site already had a small modular building which needed replacement, Wernick Hire worked closely with Wernick Refurbished Buildings, another Wernick Group company, to provide a building for the client. The project involved the removal of the existing building and installation of the refurbished modular building.
Adjacent to the Harsco entrance, the office building allows the operations staff to control the movements of inward and outward goods to the main plant. The staff occupy the ground floor which has offices, a cloakroom, a kitchen, a shower room and male, female and disabled WC facilities. The first floor is a management suite with a kitchenette and toilet facilities.
A two storey refurbished modular building with a Thermowood external cladding finish complimented the plant surroundings. The office building houses a large amount of computer and communication equipment linked to the plants machinery.
The client had to be operational during the removal of the existing modular building and the important foundation works. To minimise disruption temporary cabins were provided during these processes, serving the purpose of housing the Harsco staff until their refurbished accommodation was ready.
The speedy installation meant there was much cost saved and Harsco Metals and Minerals liked the fact the building was environmentally sound. Every measure was taken to re-use and recycle all materials used in the construction process leading to far less waste.
