BP / Vivergo Fuels

Requirement

Wernick Hire Ltd has negotiated a contract to supply sixty-five 32’ x 10’ blast resistant accommodation units for a £200m construction project at BP’s Saltend Plant near Hull. Vivergo Fuels, a consortium that includes BP, British Sugar and DuPont, is constructing a biofuel plant at the site that will convert a variety of feedstocks, including wheat and sugar beet into ethanol. The blast resistant buildings, which include an 8-bay modular building, will be equipped internally as offices, mess units to cater for 600 people, locker rooms and toilet and shower blocks.

All the accommodation supplied by Wernick Hire to the project is constructed to conform to a 150 millibar blast rating. The construction superintendent at the plant stated, “Wernick have achieved all the delivery dates agreed and they have supplied and installed a quality product in a timely manner under some difficult conditions. They have carried out their duties in a safe and well organized manner.”
