Wernick Hire’s Management Team donned their lycra in support of charity on Sunday as they rode 60 miles from London to Brighton. Joined by Wernick Group Chief Executive Simon Doran and Howard Turner, Director of Adlington Welding Supplies, the team managed to raise over £5,000 for Cancer Research UK.

The first of the team to finish the course was Wernick Hire’s Managing Director Michael Thistlethwaite, who clocked in at a very respectable 05:35:26, with Simon Doran only two seconds behind him. In total, four of the team finished in the top 30 out of 653 riders who started.

The team, dubbed Wernick’s Wonderful Wheels, received over 120 donations through their JustGiving page, with many generous donations from staff and suppliers. A special mention should be given to Office Team who provided the team’s jerseys, and in particular Robin Hind who made a four hour trip (by car) to collect the jerseys to ensure the team received them on time.

Michael Thistlethwaite told us “I’m delighted that we’ve been able to raise so much money for such a worthy cause. The whole team put in a tremendous amount of effort into their training, and the support we’ve received from everyone has been fantastic.”
