Wernick’s support recognised by Scottish Fire Trusts

Through their ongoing charitable efforts, the Wernick Group has supported the Scottish Fire Brigades Heritage Trust and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Family Support Trust. In recognition of this support, these trusts recently presented gifts to David Wernick, Chairman of the Wernick Group.

The gifts included a replica MSA Fire helmet and visor, which also serves as a Champagne and Ice Bucket, and a bottle of Royal Salute Whiskey. These gifts were a gesture of appreciation for the significant contributions made by David Wernick and the Wernick Group to both trusts. The presentation took place at the Wernick Hire depot in Dundee, where David Wernick was visiting the new Dundee depot and the Lochgelly site. The gifts were a complete surprise to him.

Ricky Wedlock, Regional Director for Wernick Hire, has strong ties with these trusts and has been working with them for years. Ricky is dedicated to fundraising for the UK Firefighters Charity, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Family Support Trust and the Scottish Fire Brigades Heritage Trust every weekend. His efforts were recognised by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service when he received the Chief Officer’s Certificate of Commendation for providing life-saving first aid at the Bathgate Gala Day.

In 2021, Ricky undertook a challenging three-round charity golf event while wearing a full fire kit, raising an impressive £5,500, with £500 donated by the Wernick Group. The trusts have benefitted financially from these efforts, enabling them to continue their charitable work supporting the Fire Service, its families, and the wider community. This includes maintaining the fire service museum in Greenock, hosting community engagement days, station open days, and providing rest breaks and support for fire service personnel and their families.

Additionally, the Wernick Group supported Ricky in donating two discounted company cars to aid the trusts in their logistical and daily operations.
