Driving smarter, cleaner power solutions

In 2025, WPS opened its flagship Power Optimisation Centre and Centre of Excellence at our new 2-acre Walsall facility following a £3 million investment in technical leadership, training and innovation.

The facility allows WPS to monitor and optimise performance across more than:

Using integrated JCB LiveLink and Victron telemetry systems, the Power Optimisation Centre delivers real-time operational insights that help customers reduce fuel consumption, lower emissions and improve overall power efficiency.

Since 2023, WPS has invested more than £30 million into low-carbon technologies and sustainable power innovation, including significant investment into hybrid systems, battery storage and renewable solutions such as SolarFrame Plus,  a unique system combining both solar and wind generation technologies.

Delivering measurable results

The award submission demonstrated not only technical innovation, but measurable impact across the MMC sector.

In 2025 alone, WPS helped customers achieve:

  • £2.1 million in operating cost savings
  • 9,917,784 kg of CO₂ emissions reduced
  • 3,039,870 litres of fuel saved
  • More than 460,000 hours of zero-emission power

One recent customer project achieved an 83% reduction in generator runtime within just 31 days, saving 4,875 litres of fuel and preventing 12,236 kg of CO₂e emissions.

WPS has also partnered with DATA3 to develop a new API integration platform that unifies telemetry, MRP and sustainability reporting, providing customers with transparent, real-time performance data and enhanced operational visibility.

Judges praised WPS for its “outstanding” technical innovation, investment and measurable sustainability impact and also highlighted the company’s commitment to collaboration across the wider supply chain, particularly the partnership with DATA3, and the role of the new Centre of Excellence in raising standards through workforce and customer training.

Comments included:

“A truly outstanding entry for this category showing an integrated approach to powering and managing power usage for site accommodation.”
“Outstanding carbon and cost savings, those results speak for themselves.”
“A real example of a company investing for the greater good and long term, not just short term gain.”

Continuing to lead sustainable innovation

Winning the Stuart Norris Technical Achievement Award is a significant milestone for Wernick Power Solutions and reinforces our position at the forefront of sustainable power innovation within the MMC sector and beyond.

As the industry continues to evolve, WPS remains committed to delivering smarter, cleaner and more efficient power solutions that support customers in reducing environmental impact while improving operational performance.

This award recognises not only what has already been achieved, but also the long-term vision driving the future of sustainable power in the UK.
