Group Sustainability Manager, Lex Massey guided the Horwich team through the application process, helping them develop an achievable plan. They collaborated with a local gardener to select appropriate trees and plants, ensuring the new landscaping would thrive and attract wildlife.
The project resulted in a complete makeover of the depot’s front area, creating an inviting space for both visitors and wildlife. This initiative not only improved the depot’s appearance but also fostered collaboration with local businesses. “We’ve received a lot of positive feedback from staff and customers about our new front garden. It’s not only environmentally friendly but it looks great too. I have to say it has been a seamless process and Lex in particular has been really helpful from helping with initial ideas to pointing us in the right direction to make this project a success.” Shared Hannah.
The SIF has enabled the Horwich depot to make a significant environmental contribution by focusing on wildlife enhancement. “It’s a great way to make your depot stand out while also doing something positive for the environment,” Hannah said.
Looking ahead, Horwich plans to create a relaxing area for the team to enjoy their lunch breaks. Thanks to Hannah and the SIF, the Horwich depot has not only improved its environmental footprint but also brought new life to its surroundings.
