Norfolk Project

Wernick Power Solutions and Greener Power Solutions at Norfolk Necton

Challenge

This site included two modular buildings installed by Wernick Hire, consisting of a 10 x 10 modular complex for the main site, and 3 x 3 modular building for client specific operations.

The site was equipped with a range of facilities, including multiple offices, drying rooms, toilets, changing rooms, and a canteen, all designed to support over 100 engineers and office staff.

To power the site, the initial requirement was for two 500kVA generators, one for operation and the other as a standby unit. This setup would also necessitate multiple fuel tanks to accommodate the continuous fuel supply and refuelling needs throughout the project’s duration.

  • Project name: Norfolk
  • Sector: Energy
  • Solution provided: 2 x 200kVA & 336kW Voltbank
  • Features: Hybrid power application, reduced fuel consumption, reduced Co2 and Nox emissions, and silent running hours
  • Savings: Running time: 1,593 hours, Fuel: 29,058 litres, CO2 emissions: 93 tonnes, NOx emissions: 445kg

Solution

To meet the client’s requirement, Wernick Power Solutions partnered with Greener Power to develop a highly efficient solution. This involved integrating a 336kW battery with two 200kVA generators, one of which served as a standby unit. The system allowed the site to operate silently at night while maintaining full functionality. During the day, the smaller generator worked alongside the battery to supply power, significantly cutting fuel consumption.

This innovative solution not only addressed all of the client’s challenges and generated significant fuel savings but also enhanced operational efficiency and boosted environmental sustainability.

Result

The project was a great success, earning exceptional feedback from the customer. Wernick Power Solutions‘ innovative hybrid system, featuring a 226kW battery storage unit paired with two 200kVA generators, enabled the customer to achieve impressive savings: 1,593 hours in running time and 29,058 litres of fuel. Additionally, the solution delivered significant environmental benefits, including a reduction of 93 tonnes of CO2 emissions and 445kg of nitrogen oxides.

“The installation team reached above and beyond expectations and the aftercare service has been exceptional, even for the smallest of issues. I have thoroughly enjoyed the collaboration which has allowed us to act as one team, and I place the onus on the Wernick Team  for making this happen. I would not hesitate for a second in recommending Wernick for all their solutions.”

Site Manager

For this project, we provided Wernick Power with a 422-kWh battery in conjunction with 2 of their 200 kVA diesel generators to create an efficient hybrid power application. This setup significantly reduces fuel consumption by optimising the use of stored battery power, thereby decreasing the reliance on diesel generators. As a result, it leads to lower CO2 and NOx emissions, contributing to a cleaner environment. Additionally, the system allows for silent running hours, enhancing operational efficiency and reducing noise pollution. This hybrid approach not only promotes sustainability but also ensures a reliable and uninterrupted power supply!
