Cox Construction

Wernick Power Solutions 300kVA generator

Challenge

Cox Construction’s client, operating a microchip manufacturing facility, planned a critical four-week shutdown for routine maintenance. The primary concern revolved around maintaining uninterrupted power and precise temperature control within the main manufacturing facility. Any deviations in temperature or power disruptions could have led to substantial setbacks in the facility’s output.

  • Project Name: Cox Construction Ltd
  • Sector: Construction
  • Location: Towcester
  • Supplied by: Wernick Power
  • Products : 300kVA & PUNCH Flybrid

Proposed Solution

To address this challenge, we proposed deploying three 300kVA generators, one of which would serve as a reliable standby, ensuring continuous power supply to both the facility and temporary chilling equipment. Understanding the high inrush current demands of the chillers, we recommended implementing innovative Flybrid (flywheel) technology instead of opting for larger generators.

Projected Results

The integration of the Flybrid was expected to:

  1. Avert the need for larger generators, thus potentially mitigating additional expenses for our client.
  2. Potentially result in fuel and CO2 savings throughout the proposed rental period.

The adoption of this technology showed promising prospects for cost efficiency and environmental sustainability, indicative of our commitment to delivering innovative and impactful solutions to our clients’ challenges.

While this project did not proceed, the proposed solution demonstrated our approach to addressing complex power and temperature control requirements in critical manufacturing environments. It underscores our commitment to exploring innovative technologies that could offer both operational and environmental benefits to our clients.
