Ebony’s Interview
I am Ebony Johnson, a Senior Hire Controller at Wernick Hire Hull.
How did you start your journey at Wernick, and what led you to become a Senior Hire Controller?
In my background, I started as a Hire Controller as an apprentice for a plant and tool hire company. That gave me the foundation to work in the hiring industry. I then progressed onto Wernick Hire, where I was a Hire Controller. Then, I was promoted to Senior Hire Controller.
What was it that attracted you to the role of Senior Hire Controller?
What initially attracted me to my role as a Senior Hire Controller was the ability to run the hire desk and delegate work.
What does a typical day in your role look like for you?
A typical day for me starts with dealing with any calls or emails on the hire desk—guarding the other Hire Controllers, giving them information they might need, and working on larger and more complex projects.
Is there a specific challenge you face in your role, and how does Wernick help you resolve this?
A challenge I deal with quite often is large projects and very complex customers and needs. As well as meeting their expectations. So, to overcome this, we set up (Microsoft) team meetings with the client early on in the project to eliminate any issues and meet their expectations.
How would you describe the culture at Wernick?
The Wernick culture is like one big family. Everybody is really approachable, and the senior leadership team is really supportive.
