Wernick Hire supports Salford City Roosters Rugby Club with a donation of refurbished units

12th November 2024

Wernick Hire is proud to announce its support for local rugby club, Salford City Roosters, by donating a fully refurbished 32ft portable unit and a 20ft storage container. This contribution addresses the club’s growing need for additional space and resources.

Salford Roosters, a local rugby league team in Salford, Greater Manchester, caters to people of all ages. The club required this expanded space to function as a classroom and additional secure storage for training and match day equipment. The donated unit will also serve as a canteen on match days, enhancing the club’s support for the local community.

This initiative was made possible through collaboration with our client Eric Wright Construction, with the donation set to benefit the rugby club for years to come. The donation is linked to the Willohaus, Salford project where Eric Wright Construction are building a new Passivhaus affordable apartment scheme for Salix Homes and Wernick Hire provided the temporary works accommodation for the project.  The donation also included repurposed furniture, electrical equipment and further sponsorship opportunities. Notably, the enhancements made to the units will result in carbon savings of over 3.2 tCO2e per annum, with more than six tonnes of materials being repurposed and reused in the project.

The total value of donations delivered for the project amounts to nearly £10,000 with several other legacy benefits being created. Both units were equipped with comprehensive electrical and wiring systems, featuring four LED lights, passive infrared sensors (PIR), two low-energy heaters, and a television. These enhancements not only improve functionality but also ensure a comfortable and energy-efficient environment for users, showcasing the significant impact of community support and collaboration.

This has been a true collaboration among us, Eric Wright Construction, and the local rugby club, creating a versatile space accessible to the community for years to come. We aimed to deliver a legacy project with Eric Wright Construction, engaging with the local community to understand the rugby club's objectives. We hope that donating these units facilitates a year-round space that supports training, storage, and revenue generation from food and drink sales, ultimately fostering a legacy for future generations at the club.
