Hull City Council – Hull Fair

Requirement

Hull Fair, recognised as Europe’s largest travelling funfair, requires extensive temporary facilities to support the teams responsible for organising and managing the annual event.

Hull City Council required more than 30 portable accommodation units to provide office space, toilet facilities and operational areas for the various organisations working on site. These included Hull City Council, KWL Electricians, security personnel managing site access, Humberside Police, St John Ambulance and Yorkshire Ambulance Service.

With multiple teams operating across the event, the accommodation needed to meet specific requirements, providing practical working environments for those responsible for the safe and efficient running of the fair. The units also needed to be delivered within a tightly coordinated schedule to ensure facilities were ready ahead of the event.

Having worked with Wernick Hire for more than 10 years, Hull City Council continued its established relationship with the company, recognising the quality of its accommodation and the reliable service provided throughout previous events.

Solution

Wernick Hire and Wernick Events worked together to supply approximately 30 anti-vandal cabins, providing temporary accommodation for the various organisations supporting Hull Fair.

The units were configured to meet the individual requirements of the teams using them, with facilities ranging from offices and operational spaces to toilet accommodation. Specific internal features, including sinks, counters and pre-drilled openings, were incorporated where requested to ensure the cabins were suitable for their intended use.

Careful planning and coordination were essential to the delivery, with Wernick’s Hull depot managing the arrangements to meet the council’s schedule. The team worked closely with the client throughout the process, from the initial quotation and specification through to delivery and installation.

As part of the preparations, Wernick also accommodated visits to its Hull depot, allowing the council to inspect the accommodation and confirm that the units met the standards established during previous years.

With more than a decade of experience supporting Hull Fair, Wernick’s team provided a consistent and dependable service, ensuring the accommodation was delivered to specification and ready for use. The ongoing relationship demonstrates Wernick’s ability to support major public events through coordinated accommodation provision and responsive customer service.

Wernick Hire has provided our accommodation for more than 10 years, consistently delivering an exceptional service. The units always arrive clean, tidy and to our specifications, and the team works closely with us to meet our tight delivery schedule. We would have no hesitation in recommending Wernick Hire.
