Saskia Davies – Senior Marketing Coordinator

Tell us about your role as Senior Marketing Coordinator at Wernick Group.

I look after the marketing for Wernick Refurbished Buildings, Portable Building Sales and Wernick Group’s sustainability and social value initiatives.

My role varies from day to day but the main aspects include updating the website, writing and filming case studies of recent projects, creating marketing materials for the sales team and promoting what we do on social media.

You started as a Junior Marketing Coordinator and are now a Senior Marketing Coordinator. What has kept you at Wernick Group?

The variation in my role has been a big part of what has kept me at Wernick. I’ve had the opportunity to work across all aspects of marketing, from pay-per-click (PPC) and search engine optimisation (SEO) to video shoots and editing.

Starting as a Junior Marketing Coordinator also meant I worked across all the Group Companies, which was a great way to learn about the wider Wernick Group and meet lots of great people across the business.

How has your role evolved since you first joined Wernick?

When I first joined, there were only 4 of us in the marketing department. Now, there are 11, so the team has grown significantly over the last five years.

During my first couple of years, I supported the marketing activity across several of the Group Companies. Over the last two years, I’ve had responsibility for my own company, Wernick Refurbished Buildings, which has given me much more freedom in my role and the opportunity to try new things within marketing.

Looking back, what do you think has been the biggest factor in your career development at Wernick Group?

The opportunities I’ve been given to keep learning and developing my skills have made a big difference. Last year, I completed a MiniMBA in Marketing, which took a couple of months and was beneficial, not only in terms of what I could apply to my role but also in building my confidence.

I try to complete at least one course each year and over the last five years I’ve gained certificates in areas including copywriting, digital advertising, SEO and leadership skills. Having the opportunity to continually learn and build my knowledge has helped me progress in my role.

Are there any recent campaigns you’re particularly proud of and what made them successful?

I’m currently working on launching a new Wernick division, which is exciting as it’s a completely different product. Launching a new company is something I’ve never done before, so it’s been a great opportunity to learn and take on something new.

One of the first campaigns I worked on that I was particularly proud of was launching Wernick’s net zero journey. We’re aiming to be net zero by 2040 and one of the main projects was creating a video to showcase what we’re doing and bring the journey to life.

How would you describe Wernick’s commitment to sustainability and social value from your perspective?

There’s so much that goes on behind the scenes when it comes to sustainability and social value at Wernick and I think sometimes the challenge is showcasing everything that we’re doing. There are so many different initiatives happening across the Group, from supporting local communities to creating employment and development opportunities.

I’m currently working on a video to showcase some of our social value initiatives and it’s really highlighted just how much there is to talk about. From my perspective, there’s a genuine commitment across the business to making a positive impact and it’s great to be able to help tell those stories.

What would you say to someone considering joining Wernick?

Go for it. There are so many opportunities within the Group, and they really do promote from within. There are also opportunities to move into different areas of the business, with support and training available to help you develop.

The Wernick team are always happy to help and have been very welcoming during my time here, so I’d encourage anyone considering joining to take the opportunity.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

I’m an avid reader. I’m currently reading Sarah J. Maas’ interconnected series in anticipation of her two new books being released, A Court of Splintered Harmony and A Court of Forgotten Melody.

I also enjoy playing card games with my friends and family. At the moment, our favourites are Monopoly Deal and Speed.
