Wernick’s climate targets validated by SBTi

Wernick Group has reached a significant milestone in its sustainability journey, with its near-term and net-zero greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets officially validated by SBTi Services.

The validation confirms that the targets submitted by Wernick Group conform with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) Criteria and Recommendations, providing a clearly defined pathway for reducing greenhouse gas emissions across the Group and its wider value chain.

For Wernick Group, achieving validation provides a robust framework for its existing sustainability ambitions, establishing measurable near and long-term emissions reduction targets against a 2024 base year and supporting its ambition to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its value chain by 2040.

Work is already underway across the Group to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve environmental performance, including investment in renewable energy, improvements in energy efficiency, the transition towards lower-emission vehicles and equipment and an increased focus on resource efficiency and circularity.

The validated science-based targets will provide clear milestones against which Wernick Group can measure progress and help guide future action across the business.

Achieving validation follows a detailed target-setting and assessment process, supported by Elemental Consulting Group, who worked alongside Wernick Group throughout its SBTi submission.

With its near-term and net-zero targets now validated, Wernick Group’s focus turns to delivering against these commitments, measuring progress and continuing to identify opportunities to reduce emissions across its operations and value chain.
