Requirement

The Urdd National Eisteddfod is one of Europe’s largest youth festivals, held annually in alternating North and South Wales locations. Organised by Urdd Gobaith Cymru, it celebrates Welsh language and culture through competitions in music, literature, drama, dance and visual arts for young people aged 7–24.

For the 2025 event, held at Margam Country Park, SC Productions required a high-quality site welfare solution to accommodate crew working behind the scenes, including overnight accommodation and facilities for rest and refreshment.

Solution

Wernick Events delivered a comprehensive welfare setup, featuring 15 of the company’s newly launched RestPods, each equipped with shower, toilet, and twin sleeping compartments. These were arranged in neat rows against the scenic backdrop of the Margam estate, providing convenient and comfortable accommodation for the event crew.

To support day-to-day living, Wernick also sourced and supplied two custom kitchenette units, each fitted with a sink, fridge, microwave, and baby belling cooker, to support those working long shifts on-site. Although not a standard Wernick product, these were specially sourced in response to the client’s request.

As all units required waste tanks, Wernick’s site team raised each RestPod and kitchenette on jacklegs and installed access steps to ensure usability. Deliveries and collections were carefully coordinated to align with Health & Safety requirements and on-site logistics, with the team remaining dynamic and responsive throughout setup and derig.

The 2025 Urdd was the second major event to feature Wernick’s new RestPods, which received positive feedback for their comfort and quality.

The event was a real success, and we really appreciated the hard work from the Wernick team in delivering everything on time and to such a high standard.
