The Cardiff community of Wenvoe celebrated the opening of their new modular library with a fun-filled opening ceremony.

Craig Yates from Only Men Aloud sang a few songs and cut the ribbon, and a member of the Community Council gave a speech, thanking all those involved in the project and the Vale of Glamorgan Council for administering the grant.

Wenvoe County Council approached Wernick with a vision to replace an existing library building that was beyond repair with an attractive and spacious building for community use.

Completion of the four module building took just eight weeks, which included the demolition of the old building and management of asbestos on the site.

Wernick completed the building with modern timber cladding, reinforced flooring to accommodate the library section and a cafeteria.

In addition to the library, the building will accommodate the Wenvoe Community Hub – a place where residents can meet with like-minded people and learn new skills.

Since opening, the Hub has seen a significant rise in the registration of new members and a 30% increase in volunteers.

Dickon Oliver – Chairman at Wenvoe Council commented: “We had a great turnout for the opening ceremony and the community is hugely enthusiastic about the new building. Wernick were a pleasure to work with, and project management was very professional.”
