Requirement

The Malling School is a mixed secondary school located in East Malling, Kent. Due to a growing number of students, the school required additional teaching space to accommodate this increase.

Harris Building Consultancy contacted Wernick Refurbished Buildings on behalf of the school. Having previously worked with our sister company, Wernick Buildings, Harris was familiar with the high standards and reliable service offered across the Wernick Group. This reputation was a key reason for selecting Wernick Refurbished Buildings to deliver the project.

Solutions

Wernick provided a refurbished modular building made up of 12 modules. The final layout consists of three classrooms, toilet facilities, an office, three meeting rooms and two storage cupboards.

To deliver a seamless experience, Wernick offered a full turnkey service. This includes groundworks, foundations, reduced dig to create level access, installation of paths, mains service connections and installation of an attenuation tank for surface water management.

Delivering the modules presented a challenge due to the building’s location on the school site. To overcome this, Wernick installed a temporary trackway and crane pad, allowing for safe and efficient installation using a crane.

The building was created using 12 fully refurbished modules, originally sourced from M-AR as part of a batch of 152 modules purchased by Wernick. These modules were carefully repurposed and refurbished to meet the needs of The Malling School, offering a high-quality, sustainable solution with significantly reduced environmental impact compared to a traditional new build.
