Trainee Yard Operative

The Trainee Yard Operative is responsible for processing instructions received from the Yard Foreman or Mentor as requested, ensuring quality, safety, security, and minimising wastage. In this role you will be appointed a Mentor to supervise and take you through the trainee programme. The programme is designed to take you through all aspects of operational skill requirements in our industry. The trainee will undertake an eighteen-month programme with review meetings to support covering everything from Health and Safety awareness to the cleaning and preparation of units, site installs, joinery work, plumbing work, test and inspection, painting, basic electrical work, and depot movements, giving the trainee a multi-skilled background within our industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Attending on the job training and participating in as many learning opportunities as possible
  • Assisting within the relevant department, but also learning about other aspects of the company
  • Observing health and safety procedures
  • Completing all tests and other required evaluations
  • Working in the Depot and travelling to other sites when required
  • Positively receiving feedback
  • Attending meetings and offering suggestions for improvement
  • Keeping a log of everything learned
  • Building professional relationships with colleagues and clients

  • Driver’s license recommended or working towards it
