A lot has been said about our age, but reaching 84 is nothing to be sniffed at. However, building on the legacy of those years and maintaining growth requires focus. Company values help to sustain that focus and we recently put into words what our Values are and dispensed them to all staff.
Origin of Our Values
We have dubbed our Values ‘The Wernick Way’. Meaning, our Values are how we do things. These are principles that are ingrained in our behaviour and underpin decision making.
The Values were introduced at our 2018 biennial company seminar, an appropriate setting as this is where we celebrate business and staff achievements.
Our Values will keep us all focused on the same purpose – helping the business to succeed and providing the best for our customers.
I would like to go through some aspects of the way we work and how this helped us with sculpting our Values.
Wernick’s success over the years would not have been possible if it wasn’t for our loyal and hard-working staff, both past and present. With business growth comes greater opportunity for career progression as new roles are created to cope with the increased work load. It has always been our policy to promote from within prior to advertising externally to facilitate the ambitions of those individuals who wish to progress.
On-going investment in training ensures continual development for all of our staff to help them fulfil their full potential. In addition to this we have a graduate programme, an internal management training scheme for existing staff and apprenticeships based at our factory.
The company has been privately owned and run by the Wernick family since its origins in the 1930’s. This single minded approach between Directors and Shareholders provides an ability to make quick decisions in reaction to presented opportunities, as well as making investment decisions with clear long term objectives in mind.
Providing safe working environments and safe buildings for those that use them is paramount. Our ambition is to continuously challenge ourselves to improve not just our own health & safety standards and processes but also to improve those of the industry as a whole through our work with our industry trade body, the MPBA.
No business would exist without its customers and our strict focus on providing quality products supported by excellent service is why the business has succeeded over the past 84 years. All other business strategies ultimately boil down to the simple goal of continuing to deliver this ambition to our customers.

Through integrity and consistency in our actions, we have grown the business to what it is today. The Values show our commitment to customers, to the future of the business and to each other. They remind us to never lose focus of how we got here and of our common goals.
