Ysgol Caer Elen

Requirement

Pembrokeshire County Council embarked on a modular provision initiative to meet the evolving needs of local schools, including Ysgol Caer Elen, by providing modern and high-quality teaching spaces for students.

Following a rigorous tender process, Wernick Buildings secured the contract to design and construct new facilities across all educational institutions.

At Ysgol Caer Elen, the project required the delivery of two double classrooms, encompassing comprehensive ground preparation, planning, building control, SuDS design and application, as well as service connections.

  • Project name: Ysgol Caer Elen

  • Location : Haverfordwest
  • Client name: Ysgol Caer Elen
  • Supplied by: Wernick Buildings
  • Size: 12 modules
  • Programme length: 10 weeks
  • Features : 4 classrooms, toilet facilities

Solution

We completed all elements of the requirement ensuring that proposals met all necessary building regulations, including energy (Part L), fire (Part B) and access (Part M).

The final 12-module design adheres to all relevant Building Bulletins corresponding to the nursery-aged students of Haverfordwest who are starting their education journey in the building. The Wernick modular solution provides 238m2 of classroom space out of the total internal building area of 336m2.

To avoid disruption to school operations and mitigate any safety concerns, the build process took place during an academic term. All the building modules were delivered and installed on the school site on a Saturday and the onsite construction was completed in just 10 weeks.

The children have settled very quickly into the building, they feel at home and are comfortable. The happy faces tell us everything!
