Kier Heartlands Hospital

Requirement

When Kier Construction was appointed to provide a new facility at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, they required office and welfare units to cater to a multitude of needs for both site and office staff.

In addition, it was imperative that the accommodation would support social distancing measures. As a result, the client required a large canteen area with single-seated tables for staff, a new toilet block with disabled access, a shower area and office space.

Solution

Kier contacted Wernick with whom they had an existing relationship with. Wernick Hire provided an economical solution that matched the client’s needs.

The high-quality building consisted of 9 brand-new bays and 7 fully refurbished modules and was supplied on a 6-week lead time. The mix of new and refurbished units matched the client’s bespoke requirements.

Due to the ongoing situation regarding Covid-19, one-way staircases as well as a large landing for entry and exit to the upper floor were added to the project. Signage was also used throughout the building to direct staff circulation and define entry and exit points.

Additionally, a sliding window was provided for the upper floor reception area and kier signage was added to the interior and exterior of the building.

Wernick are providing a 10 bay, two storey building that will be added to the site in April 2021.

The office/welfare environment we have created for this project is second to none, we have received multiple compliments. The Wernick Hire team are always good to work with, they understand our needs and do their best to develop the right solution for the project.
