Requirement

Conisbrough Ivanhoe Primary Academy, located in Doncaster, caters to students aged 3 to 11 years old. Recognising the necessity for additional space to support children with SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) needs, the school needed to find a solution.

Working closely with Doncaster Council, Ivanhoe explored various options, ultimately choosing Wernick Refurbished Buildings due to their efficient lead time and competitive pricing. While Wernick’s reputation had already been established through previous collaborations with Doncaster Council, the school also heard of Wernick through the Crown Commercial Framework.

Solution

Upon choosing Wernick Refurbished Buildings, additional features needed to be considered for the new structure. The final specifications included thermowood external cladding, a padded sensory room, a new tarmac path, an intruder alarm, access control and a fire alarm system. Wernick provided a comprehensive turnkey solution, which included the design and planning phase, building control, groundworks and landscaping.

Given the school setting, planning was essential to minimise disruption to the student’s learning experience. As a result, the project demanded swift delivery, prompting Wernick to deliver and install the building within a short timeframe. Furthermore, to assist in the transportation of the modules to the location, a trackway was required, ensuring a smooth delivery despite the off-road setting.

The whole team at Wernick gave a great service, any issues or questions the school had they were dealt with immediately including several changes and additional works requested by the school once the building was installed. The building itself is outstanding and the ideal solution to the increased need for SEMH provision for children in the Doncaster area to help them achieve their full potential.
