Wernick Hire Supplies £27m Building School for the Future Project
For Carillion’s third Building Schools for the Future (BSF) project for Nottingham City Council the international construction giant chose a Wernick Hire two-storey, 18 bay modular AVflex building as its site office for the £27m Bulwell Academy project.
Sponsored by ‘Edge’, an independent education foundation dedicated to raising the status of practical and vocational training, the new Academy’s state-of-the-art building will have an anticipated capacity of 1300 students between the ages of 11 and 18.
Wernick won the site office contract with their unique AVflex vandal-resistant modular system which offers a high level of security together with a bespoke internal room layout and fit out. Large areas of the AVflex building are open-plan with Category 2 lighting and IT/telephone dado trunking included in the hire package. The AVflex site office includes a reception area, offices and kitchen on the first floor and a canteen, toilets, drying room and further offices on the ground floor.
Carillion government services division managing director Shaun Carter said: “We are delighted to be underway with a third school under the Nottingham BSF programme, which is leading the way in providing first-class facilities for education in the area. As a market leader in delivering schools under the BSF programme, education is a strong growth area for Carillion. We look forward to building on the strong relationship we have already established with Nottingham City Council to support the delivery of its vision for sustainable, state-of-the-art, community focused schools.”
