New PMflex™ Modular System Perfect Solution for Capella Project

Project Capella aims to bring a new centre of excellence to Cambridge University’s already outstanding Biomedical Campus, providing state of the art new laboratories for research into the treatment of diseases such as Cancer.

The £79 million building is being constructed by Kier, who have a worked successfully with Cambridge University on a variety of construction projects since 1996. The Capella Research Centre aims to bring together various research groups that are presently scattered across the city to share a building environment that facilitates high level research and the exchanging of ideas.

While the team at Kier are busily working away on site, Wernick Hire has been catering to all their temporary accommodation needs.

A project of this size clearly requires a large workforce, and a large workforce requires a lot of space. Wernick Hire provided the ideal solution via a 3-storey PMflex™ GreenSpace™ modular building. This new system from Wernick can rise to 5 storeys and features an innovative design that maximises the efficiency of installation. The interior of the building can be fitted out to meet almost any requirement. PMflex™ GreenSpace™ buildings also include a range of energy saving features such as high levels of insulation, T5 lighting and UPVc double glazed windows.

Site Manager Alan Coxhead told us “We are happy with the accommodation; we were very impressed with the installation of the building. The Operations Manager was extremely helpful during the installation for the staircase as space was of the essence.”

The 36 stackable modules delivered to Kier provided the site with a reception area, canteen, kitchen space, meeting rooms, drying rooms, shower and toilet facilities, storage rooms and plenty of open plan office space.  The PMFlex™ system is produced in-house at Wernick’s manufacturing plant and complies with all required building regulations.
