Hancocks Cash & Carry

Requirement

Hancocks Cash & Carry needed emergency accommodation after their head office and depot was hit by flooding after Storm Dennis hit the UK during February 2020. The cash and carry specialist suffered heavy stock losses after being hit by floodwater.

Hancock’s Cash & Carry commented on the flooding: “Hancocks head office and Cash & Carry in Loughborough were devastated by floods of up to 2 feet of murky river water. Teams rushed in to begin rescuing anything that hadn’t already floated away, but as you can see from the photos, we’ve had our work cut out to clear and clean the cash & carry.

Everyone has pulled together, with such strength that in 3 days we’ve cleared the bulk of the stock that was written off but we suffered heavy stock loss! There is a great comradery within the Hancocks team and we’ve pulled out all the stops, to help each other and keep our heads above water! The cash & carry will re-open as normal within 3 days”.

Solution

Hancock and Wernick are both clients of Aon UK Limited, an insurance broker, and an Aon representative recommended Wernick to Hancocks for their emergency accommodation requirement. Immediate needs meant a very tight programme. Wernick visited Hancocks Cash & Carry’s offices to advise on project needs the same day as their initial enquiry. An order was also placed that very same day.

Wernick were very responsive throughout and very accommodating working to our tight timeframes. The cabins served their purposes well – did just what they said on the tin!
