Eden Girls Leadership Academy

Requirement

Star Academies were tasked by Birmingham City Council to provide new school places urgently. Working with main contractor Morgan Sindall, the Trust set about planning a new building that would eventually be able to accommodate 600 students.

However, the new building would not be due for completion for another two years, meaning that a temporary building would be needed.

  • Project name: Eden Girls’ Leadership Academy
  • Sector: Education
  • Location: Birmingham
  • Client name: Morgan Sindall
  • Supplied by: Wernick Hire
  • Accommodation type: Two storey school block
  • Size: 72 modules
  • Features: Classrooms, offices, science labs, canteen, library, reception area, secure entry.

Solution

Wernick Hire were chosen to provide the new school building, which was installed in just six days and handed over two months after starting on site.

The building features a variety of facilities; as well as offices and classrooms it includes science laboratories, a canteen with commercial kitchen, library, ablution area, and prayer room.

The school is currently used by nearly 300 pupils, with capacity for more to start next term.

To be honest, I didn’t expect a temporary building to be such high quality. The design is great, with the canteen, library and science labs all working well for us. Not only does the building meet our needs, but when issues arise I feel like both Morgan Sindall and Wernick are really supportive in making the building a good environment for the pupils and staff.
