Bishop Rawstorne School

Requirement

To ensure that all students are given opportunities to follow the Academy’s motto and “flourish bravely and faithfully” on their journey through secondary school, Bishop Rawstorne Church of England Academy identified the need for a new learning support building. The building was envisioned to provide a quiet and supportive space for SEND students, away from the main school buildings.

With this objective in mind, Headteacher Paul Cowley approached Wernick Buildings with the project brief and an appropriate site earmarked within the school for development.

  • Project Name: Bishop Rawstorne School

  • Location: Lancashire
  • Client Name: Bishop Rawstorne School
  • Supplied by: Wernick Buildings
  • Features: Classrooms, kitchen, toilet facilities
  • No. of modules: 6
  • Programme length: 10 weeks

Solution

The 179m2 building was fitted out offsite for a high-quality finish. Facilities inside the building include two study areas, five office spaces, a reception area, toilet facilities, and a staff breakout area. The exterior of the building was finished with render and timber cladding.

In accordance with RIBA stage 2, Wernick Buildings created an Architectural Concept aligned with the project brief. With the Academy considering several different plan layouts and exterior finish options.

With the final designs including all colour options agreed upon, Wernick Buildings initiated all relevant services and undertook the groundworks onsite at the same time as fabricating the building in our factory.

The whole project moved smoothly from start to finish. The workers on site were professional and reliable and we were kept fully informed throughout the duration of the project. The aftercare was excellent too, it was never too much trouble to come back and resolve any small issues.
