Archbishop Holgate’s School
Requirement
Pupil numbers were rising rapidly at the school, in the last 6 years they had risen from 700 to 1,700. Older modular buildings on site were full to capacity. Every December the school found out the intake for the following school year, so it had just nine months to prepare for another influx.
And funding for those extra pupils wouldn’t be paid to the school until the following year. They needed a new teaching space for the extra pupils, in the fastest and most cost-effective way possible.

Solution
The client researched modular providers online, and found Wernick Refurbished Buildings, also based in York.
Familiar with modular buildings, the client didn’t feel the need to visit the depot – and WRB Modular Sales Executive Shahid Hanif quickly put the client’s mind to rest. “I can’t speak highly enough of Shahid. He is one of the best guys I’ve dealt with in a long time. He was reliable and sharp with a ‘we can make it work’ attitude,” remarked John Stone, School Manager.
WRB delivered and completed the building over the Easter break. It is divided into four geography classrooms, an office, and a social area which can turned into an exam room by moving the room divider.
Most people have a visual of ancient modular classrooms. This building is clean, warm, dry and leagues away from the previous teaching space – and it was completed in record time.
