Trainee Yard Operative Programme
This programme offers the opportunity for individuals to develop their skills to work as a Yard Operative at one of our hire depots.
This trainee programme is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills to work as a Yard Operative in one of our Wernick Hire depots. This is an 18-month long hands-on training programme where you work alongside a mentor and learn every aspect of the role.
Trainees will gain experience in becoming a Yard Operative and after the programme is completed, they will be a fully qualified multi-skilled Yard Operative.
The trainee and their mentor will be given workbooks which will be completed and signed throughout the training process. This will build up the trainee’s portfolio which includes Level 1 Health & Safety and Working at height training. The trainee will need to complete different modules and undertake external courses; this includes working with specialist equipment and obtaining a CSCS Operatives card. All tasks, tests and evidence will be collected throughout the programme.
Trainees will have quarterly reviews with the depot manager to discuss their progress and to set goals and targets for the upcoming quarter.
Once this programme has been completed, the trainee will receive a final certificate and the Wernick Hire depot will receive a plaque in acknowledgement of their participation.
To further your career in Wernick we also offer a potential progression path for all Yard staff. This is called the ‘Wernick Way Forward’ and it gives them the opportunity to progress from their existing level, up to higher levels within the company. Who we are looking for
We are looking for motivated individuals who have the confidence and willingness to learn new things and try new skills. Candidates do not need any previous experience in a similar role or completed a similar programme.
Applicants selected for an interview will be given a specific set of questions which will be used in part to assess their suitability for the role.
