Nicki Bennett – Regional Manager at Wernick Hire
My name is Nicki Bennett and I am the Regional Manager for the Central Region at Wernick Hire, I manage Central England which is made up of 5 Wernick Hire Depots.
Nicki's interview
I started working with Wernick Hire in April 2005 as Depot Manager of the Bury St Edmunds Depot.
I have been fortunate that I have had many occasions within my time at Wernick to experience different and interesting training opportunities to help me progress through the business. Our training Programme varies throughout Wernick Group and no matter what your role is there are opportunities out there for you.
The route for progression is clear from the moment you join the business, we have a path of succession set out for those who want to take their career further. I have always been driven, my path was clear in my mind for what I wanted to achieve. I had had my sights set on the regional manager position for some time but I had to ensure that the timing was right for my family, I have had 2 children in my time at Wernick so this was my priority before I could take the next step.
When I was ready, I made it very clear to those in a senior position of my plans and I was given clear direction on what I needed to achieve. I had all the training available to ensure I was ready to take the next step and, on the 7th October 2020, I was given the opportunity to interview for the Regional Manager position. I had been studious in my preparation for the interview, and I was also incredibly nervous.
My interview went very well and I gave it everything I had, I had worked so hard for this moment and despite my voice and my hands shaking through nerves, on the 9th October 2020 I took the call to say I had been successful. It was and will always remain one of the proudest moments of my career. In the first instance the Wernick Group will always look to promote from within for all career opportunities and this is one of the many values that make us stand out from the rest.
I thoroughly love what I do, everyday is different and unique and the support I have received since being in the role over the past 2 years has been incredibly heartwarming. This is one of the advantages of working for a family-owned business, every door is always open no matter the position within the business for advice & support. The staff are always at the heart of the Wernick Group and we are fortunate to be surrounded by the best in the business.
Progression is not for everyone, but if you are keen the opportunities are there, its up to you to grab them with both hands.
