Wernick Hire’s GreenSpace Goes to the Finals

Climate Week is Britain’s biggest climate change campaign and annually inspires, rewards and educates people in an effort to combat climate change. The Climate Week Awards cover many different categories, including ‘Best Artistic Response’ and ‘Most Inspirational Person’. Previous award winners have included a modular flood barrier system and a computer game that tasks you with managing the earth’s food, water, energy and forests.

This year our GreenSpace range of products; high quality construction site accommodation, reached the final in the ‘Best New Product or Technology’ category. The units incorporate a range of energy and water saving features making them up to 69% more energy efficient than standard site accommodation, and enable customers to reduce their carbon footprint on site as well as making substantial savings on their energy costs.

Other finalists in our category included a technology to balance the energy demands made on the National Grid and an alternative to detergents that uses ceramic pellets to clean clothes. Unfortunately, we lost out to an open water heat pump system used at a large scale development in Surrey called Kingston Heights. The pump will allow the development to receive all its heating, hot water and cooling from the solar energy stored in the Thames.
