The Considerate Constructors Scheme was founded in 1997 with the aim of improving the image of construction. Constructors can register their sites, which are then monitored regularly, and well performing projects can achieve national recognition through the scheme’s annual award ceremonies. As a registered supplier, Wernick Hire are audited annually against the CCS Code of Considerate Practice.

In 2014 a selection of Wernick Hire depots became the first suppliers to be registered with the scheme. Last year the membership was upgraded to a national level, meaning every single depot was accredited under the scheme.

One depot in each region was audited on the five parts of the Scheme’s Code of Considerate Practice; Care about Appearance, Respect the Community, Protect the Environment, Secure Everyone’s Safety and Value Their Workforce.

Across each of these criteria, Wernick Hire scored 7 out of 10 for a total of 35 out of 50 marks, equating to four stars. The best scores came from the Appearance and Community categories, with added praise for the consistently high levels of Health and Safety across all audited depots.

Deputy Managing Director Jonathan Wernick commented “The scheme provides an informed third party perspective on the way we manage our business and I’m really pleased with the performance of the depots in achieving 4 star performance in 2017. Our ambition is to continually improve this score in the years to come by implementing the CCS Monitors suggestions where possible.”
