London couple, Brian and Paola, still using Wernick shed manufactured in the 1960’s
While tending to the maintenance of the shed one evening, the couple became curious, intrigued by the name plaque bearing the inscription ‘S. Wernick and Sons’. With a quick online search leading them to The Wernick Group of companies, the couple were eager to share photographs of the enduring structure and promptly reached out to send an email which was picked up by Wernick’s marketing team.
After exchanging conversations with the lovely couple, a visit was arranged at their home in Islington. The shed is still in immaculate condition and is used every day by its owners.
Brian Morris, owner of the shed commented “I couldn’t believe Wernick was a company that started from making sheds. It’s one of our garden treasures and it’s unbelievable to know that it could date back to the 1960’s or even earlier.”
The couple inherited the shed in 1996 from the previous owners of the house. Though its exact age remains uncertain, it’s plausible that the shed could trace its origins as far back as the 1960s. As The Wernick Group commemorates its 90th anniversary in 2024, this beloved garden shed serves as a testament to the enduring legacy of Wernick, showcasing how we’ve been accommodating people for nine decades.
