Kenfig Team Go Extra Mile for Charity

A 12 strong team from Wernick Buildings, Kenfig completed a 13 mile course on Friday (16th Nov), raising £1,300 for charity.
The plucky group took to the roads at lunchtime, with the SPECIFIC Active Office building at the University of Swansea serving as the starting line.
The charity chosen for this year’s walk was Hafal, a mental health charity supporting those affected by serious mental illness in Wales.
All but two of the group walked the course, with Leigh Fennell, Group Marketing Manager and Ben Wernick, Managing Director of Wernick Construction, choosing to leave later and run instead.
The weather on the day was ideal, staying at around 15°C and with overhead cloud. Unlike the 12th of October, the original date of the walk, when Storm Callum hit the UK bringing 60mph winds and torrential rain.
All those who took part finished between 5.00pm and 5.30pm, meeting at a restaurant in Langland Bay for a well-earned beverage.
Leigh Fennell commented: “We had an opportunity to raise money for a charity that a few of us connected with personally and luckily the weather held out on the postponed date, making this an enjoyable day for all who took part”.
The walkers would like to extend a huge thank you to the colleagues, sub-contractors, clients and partners who have so far donated money and support for this very worthy cause.
