Wernick help Gergask go green

When Gergask Primary School in the Scottish Highlands investigated all the options to provide much-needed additional teaching space, a four section Rapidplan 2000™ modular classroom from Wernick Buildings delivered the ideal answer.

In most instances, this would be a sensible, yet fairly unremarkable choice to make. However, one fact set this particular project apart - the need for a heating system which met the Highland Council’s policy on installing green energy sources in its buildings.

Working with heating company Dimplex, Wernick completed the installation with a heat gathering air source heat pump. Positioned just outside the new classroom, this collects heat from the air and then transfers it to the building’s hot water and under floor heating systems.

Providing free energy without creating any CO2 emissions, this innovative solution is an example of how Wernick Buildings is working to comply with the new environmental regulations that affect construction today.
